The Bucharest National Airports Company (CNAB) has awarded Alstef Group a baggage handling system and screening upgrade project for the international terminal at Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) in Otopeni, Romania.

Throughout the project, Alstef will upgrade the airport’s baggage handling services by installing 56 new check-in conveyors, 12 self-service bag drops and a new outbound sorting system. The new sorting system will include five Standard 3 screening machines, two new make-up carousels, and a transfer connection to the domestic terminal.

These upgrades will be completed over two years, and Alstef Group will also manage the civil construction work for the expansion.

Thibault Chambon, Regional Sales Manager for the Alstef Group said:

This is our first project working with CNAB, and we have also been awarded a five-year operations and maintenance contract beginning at the completion of the project.

Henri Coandă International Airport is located north of Romania’s capital, Bucharest. It is the largest and busiest airport in Romania and one of two airports serving the capital.

This is Alstef Group’s first project in Romania. The contract advances the company’s current expansion throughout Eastern Europe following the recent award of a major upgrade project at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport in Serbia.
