Starting this month, American Airlines will begin offering AAdvantage members free high-speed, satellite-based Wi-Fi across over 2 million flights a year.
Sponsored by AT&T; the rollout is set to take place in a series of phases. From this month, customers will be able to utilise the new network on 100% of the operator’s narrowbody and dual-class regional fleets, and by early spring, the service will be available on almost every American Airlines flight.
Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, said:As American celebrates 100 years of delivering industry firsts, including the first loyalty program and first airport lounge, we’re setting the standard for connectivity in the skies.
Free high-speed Wi-Fi isn’t just a perk — it’s essential for today’s travelers. That’s why we’re proud to begin rolling out this new offering, sponsored by AT&T, across the majority of our fleet. Once roll out is completed, every AAdvantage® member can stay connected, stream and share almost anywhere their journey takes them for free.
AAdvantage members will be able to access the free Wi-Fi through the American Airlines online portal by logging in using their existing information and then selecting the ‘Free Wi-Fi’ option.
Joining the AAdvantage scheme is free, and can be done before or during flights.
