Archer Aviation has announced the acquisition of control of Los Angeles’ Hawthorne Airport for 126 million USD.
The airport, which was built in the 1920s, is situated on an 80-acre site, and includes roughly 190,000 square feet of terminal, office and hangar facilities.

Located less than three miles from LAX; the airport will serve as the operational hub for Archer’s planned LA air taxi network operations and serve a key role in the LA28 Olympic Games.
The site will also be used as an innovation testbed for the company’s next-generation AI-powered aviation technologies currently under development, including AI-powered air traffic and ground operations management.
Archer shared the news as part of its Third Quarter results roundup; which also included details on the company’s recent raising of 650 million USD of additional equity capital, test flight milestones, the closing of the acquisition of Lilium’s portfolio and general global performance in during this financial year as a whole thus far.
