A new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) facility, Station 92, has officially opened at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, significantly enhancing the airport’s emergency response capabilities.
The 21,000-square-foot station was unveiled at a ceremonial event on 6 February, attended by representatives from the Houston Fire Department and Houston Airports. The modern facility replaces the previous Station 92 and forms part of IAH’s broader infrastructure improvements.

Station 92 is one of three fire stations serving Bush Airport. It will operate around the clock, 365 days a year.
The station features six apparatus bays capable of housing fire-response vehicles, including specialised aircraft rescue units used to respond swiftly to emergencies on or near airport runways. The layout also includes administrative offices, direct access to the airfield and accommodation for firefighters, such as dormitories, a shared kitchen and dining area, and storage lockers.

The opening of Station 92 coincides with broader upgrades at IAH, including terminal redevelopments and airfield projects that aim to support future growth in passenger numbers and improve operational efficiency across the airport.
