ATG airports has a vast experience of delivering AGL control systems to airports whether it be in the United Kingdom or in other territories. Based on its in-house ability and expertise in this field, we are pleased to announce that atg airports have been successful in securing a contract for Comodoro Rivadavia Airport.
A refurbishment project is currently in progress, to upgrade several areas of the airport, including the airfield lighting services and AGL control system. ATG airports’ involvement in the airport upgrade project will be to supply, install and commissions a new airfield lighting control and monitoring system. Having supplied airfield lighting equipment for several other projects in Argentina on previous occasions, the inclusion of a control system on this project will be a first.
As part of the award process to meet the client’s requirements, it was necessary for atg airports to demonstrate the full in-house capability of the engineering team, and also the ability to be able to meet the stringent design brief for this type of system. Once this element had successfully been achieved, the contract was signed and work on the design of the system could commence.
As part of our quality process for designing a safety critical system, a functional design specification of the system to be supplied, will be drafted, ensuring that all aspects of the client’s brief are met. This helps to mitigate any mis-understandings that may have occurred at discussion stages. The software will then be written, ensuring it is done in such a way so as to meet the BS ISO/IEC/IEEE 90003:2018 guidelines.
The substation control cubicles will be designed in house and built in Warrington, following which the system will then be functionally tested prior to the client visiting for a Factory Acceptance Test. On successful completion the system will be shipped, installed and readied for commissioning engineers to complete the final handover later this year.
