Construction begins on Perth Airport’s new international Aspire Lounge.
The former Control Centre and part of the Terminal 1 Observation Deck are to be transformed into a new departure lounge for international passengers. This new lounge will be situated on level 3 of T1 International and will give passengers panoramic views of the airfield and Perth’s skyline.
The contractor will put up hoarding on level 3 to enable the construction of the new lounge and to allow connection to the international departures area. This will reduce the size of the current public observation deck. The hoarding will also remove toilet access, meaning that the closest facilities will now be found on level 1.
Perth Airport is working with Swissport to construct the new lounge. Swissport already operates Aspire lounges in cities such as Heathrow, Chicago, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Nairobi and Zurich.
Kevin Brown, CEO, Perth Airport, said:These pay per use lounges are becoming more popular at international airports both interstate and around the world.”
They provide passengers, regardless of what air ticket they have, a dedicated space to relax, refresh and recharge before a long flight.
International travellers from Perth Airport have never had this option but the wait will be more than worth it. We believe this will be the best lounge of its type in Australia.
What better way to start a journey than by sitting in the comfort of the lounge, gazing out on to the airfield watching the planes come and go, and enjoying top quality food and drinks.
The Aspire lounge will be another piece of the puzzle falling into place as we build an upgraded international terminal and bring all flight services into the T1 precinct by 2025.
The new airport lounge is part of a bigger investment programme into the airport.
