Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has completed the final stage of modular construction as part of its Phase 2 North construction project with the installation of the final module at Concourse D.
The installation is set to be the final modular move until 2027, with the airport’s five gates forecasted to be completed by the end of 2025.

This latest installation is the last modular move for two years
Frank Rucker, ATL’s Senior Deputy General Manager for Infrastructure, said:This is a significant milestone because it represents about 50% of project completion.
This is just Phase 2. We’ve still got a long way to go. It’s a very complicated construction because we’re operating with an active concourse. When we’re finished with the project, it will be an improved customer experience.
Following the completion of the modular phase of construction, the airport is now looking to shift to a non-modular construction process, with subsequent work phases involving the raising of both the heigh and width of Concourse D via the use of more traditional methods.
During the works, the airport expects to temporarily close sections of the existing concourse in order to facilitate the replacement of roofing, ceiling structures and other essential works.
In total, the airport plans to build nine more modules as part of the project, which is set to be fully completed by June 2029.
