Ink Innovation and BAGTAG have announced a partnership to integrate electronic bag tag technology into the Ink passenger handling ecosystem.
This collaboration enables airlines using Ink’s systems to implement digital baggage tagging, allowing passengers to prepare their luggage before arriving at the airport.

The integration is designed to simplify the check-in process by allowing passengers to use the airline’s mobile app or the BAGTAG platform to tag their baggage remotely. Airlines benefit from reduced operational costs and infrastructure requirements, while passengers experience a smoother and more efficient journey.
Key features and benefits of the integration include:
- Immediate activation for airlines using Ink’s systems
- Mobile-based baggage tagging for passengers and crew
- Lower operational costs and infrastructure requirements
- Improved sustainability through digital processes
- Scalable implementation across different airline operations
Ink Innovation has positioned this development within its Ink ZERO concept, which focuses on a fully digital passenger experience without the need for paper or mobile phones at airport touchpoints. The integration of electronic bag tags supports a more streamlined and automated check-in and boarding process.
Shawn Richards, CEO of Ink Innovation said:The partnership with BAGTAG represents another step toward delivering a truly paperless and fully digital passenger journey we build. Integration of electronic bag tags directly into our ecosystem gives airlines the tools to modernise their operations and drive real innovation in the airport experience.
The new system will be showcased at Passenger Terminal Expo 2025 in Madrid from 8 to 10 April, where attendees can experience a live demonstration of the integrated workflow.
Jasper Quak, Managing Director of BAGTAG said:It’s always inspiring to work with partners who share a clear vision. That’s exactly what we’ve found in our collaboration with Ink. Thanks to this partnership, all Ink customers can now effortlessly offer BAGTAG solutions to their staff, crew, and passengers. It’s a significant step forward in the adoption of digital baggage solutions, like electronic bag tags, and marks an important milestone in making them more widely usable across the industry.
