Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) in Michigan has selected BEUMER Group to supply the baggage handling system for its Terminal Enhancement Project.
The new system will use BEUMER’s CrisBag tote-based individual carrier system (ICS), making Gerald R. Ford International the first small-hub airport in the US to deploy this technology.
GRR’s 135 million USD Terminal Enhancement Project aims to increase capacity and enhance the guest experience, while also incorporating sustainable elements.
The BEUMER CrisBag Individual Carrier System (ICS) will be a key component of this expansion, enabling sustainable, safe and flexible baggage handling operations.

BEUMER’s system features a compact and modular design and uses intelligent automation to optimise daily baggage operations through a “one bag per tote” system.
This solution lowers the cost per bag and enhances passenger safety by employing in-tote screening for hold baggage, thus adding an extra layer of tracking and security.
