Nashville International Airport (BNA) is currently completing its Concourse D extension, with the facility scheduled to open in July 2025.
This project is part of the airport’s New Horizon programme, which focuses on renovation and expansion across the airport.

The Concourse D extension incorporates a number of sustainability measures as part of its design and operation aimed at reducing environmental impact and supporting resource efficiency. These include:
Reflective Roofing: The roofs are light in colour, which helps to reduce the absorption of solar heat, thereby lowering cooling requirements within the building.
Water-Efficient Fixtures: Plumbing fixtures with WaterSense labels have been installed, designed to reduce water usage by a minimum of 20% compared to standard models.
Building Systems Commissioning: A commissioning process ensures that mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate efficiently and as intended, promoting long-term energy savings.
Sustainable Materials: The project prioritises building products with lower carbon footprints and healthier environmental profiles.
Waste Reduction: Construction waste has been sorted and recycled where possible, with the aim of reducing the amount of material sent to landfill.
Indoor Air Quality Practices: During construction, measures aligned with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) guidelines were taken to help maintain air quality inside the building.
Daylight and Glare Management: Large windows allow in natural light, while electrochromic glazing helps manage glare and reduce the need for artificial lighting.
Green Cleaning: The extension uses cleaning practices and products that are environmentally responsible and intended to reduce chemical exposure for occupants.
