Bristol Airport is poised to begin work on the next phase of its 400 million GBP transformation plan with new facilities, more shops and restaurants.

Improvements at the airport will see an investment of 60 million GBP used to double the number of shops and restaurants, with 17 new units set to be incorporated into the design including a number of premium retail brand and dining options, as well as more seating.

The assisted travel lounge, which will be located within the centre of the departure lounge, will double in size and include accessible toilets and a changing places facility – consisting of a larger washroom with a hoist, height adjustable changing bench, grab rails, shower and curtain.

A new baby feeding room will also be installed, as well as additional washrooms designed with input from the Airport’s Accessibility Forum.

The arrivals hall will receive a new domestic arrivals reclaim area with an extra baggage carousel, increasing capacity by 20%. New lifts and stairs will also be installed in immigration to enhance accessibility.

Kate Gwyther, Head of Retail, Bristol Airport, said:

We’re excited about what’s coming. The new departure lounge will be bright and spacious where customers can relax, explore a variety of new shops, and enjoy a wider range of dining options to suit every schedule, taste and budget. It’s all designed to make the holiday feel like it starts the moment passengers arrive.

Hoarding will appear within the Airport has work begins in the departure lounge, which is set to take place over the next three years. In order to carry out the upgrade, Soul and Grain will be closed as it relocates from the upper level to the lower level, and Tortilla will remain closed until mid December.
