Bristol Airport (BRS) is currently accepting submissions for a consultation regarding its future plans, with a deadline of 31 January fast approaching.

The Airport’s plans, which stretch to 2040, include more connections and all-new flights, including a small number of new longer-haul journeys connecting the region to the Middle East, as well as the east coast of America.

The deadline for public comments and insight is 31 January 2025, with the consultation having run for two months

If approved, future developments would see the creation of an additional 1,000 jobs at the Airport itself, with passenger numbers forecasted to see a growth of up to 15 million passengers per year by 2036, an increase from the current allowance of 12 million.

Other improvements proposed include a larger terminal building, improved on-site facilities, new taxiways, apron extensions & additional aircraft stands, capacity improvements on the A38 surrounding the airport and increased car park provisions.

Planning applications are expected to be delivered to North Somerset Council in mid-to-late 2025, and proposals can be viewed on Bristol Airport’s website, with those requiring in-person services invited to visit one of two drop-in sessions at Cleeve Village Hall on Thursday 9 January (3pm-8pm) or Felton Village Hall on Saturday 11 January (10.30am-3pm).
