The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has officially confirmed that Father Christmas has been given all necessary approvals to operate his annual flight this Christmas Eve.
Following a thorough inspection by a team of qualified flight inspectors; Santa’s sleigh has been given the green light to ensure a safe and smooth journey this coming Wednesday night.

With Christmas Day 2025 expected to be 70% busier than it was in 2015; Father Christmas won’t be alone in his travels this Christmas.
The CAA has stated that it has carried out all necessary checks to ensure an issue-free flight this Christmas Eve:
- All elf and safety checks are complete
- Rudolph’s nose is bright enough to guide the sleigh through adverse weather conditions
- Mistletoe has been stowed safely in overhead lockers
- Christmas cheer is handled by qualified experts
- The sleigh bells are ringing at an acceptable decibel level
- Reindeer have been granted their rooftop runway rights
Giancarlo Buono, Director of Safety and Airspace Regulation at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, said:, said:Santa is cleared for take-off and ready to deliver Christmas cheer across the globe. So, if you are flying this festive season, follow Santa’s example and pack safe fly safe.
With the confirmation Santa is ready to begin his journey, the CAA has also advised potential passengers to Pack Safe, Fly Safe to avoid delays and keep everyone moving this holiday season.
The regulator has advised passengers to heed the following advice:
- Carry electronics (phones, laptops, vapes) in hand luggage
- Leave presents unwrapped – they may need to be inspected at security
- Check airline rules before packing items like Christmas crackers
- Switch off electrical devices in checked luggage completely
- Party poppers are banned on UK aircraft, and airlines may have specific rules for other festive items
