Singapore’s Changi Airport has completed significant underground infrastructure to support the future integration of Terminal 5 (T5) with its existing terminal network.
A series of underground tunnels extending approximately 1.7 kilometres has been constructed to connect Terminal 2 (T2) with the future T5 site. The tunnels are intended to allow airport operations to function as a single, integrated system once T5 becomes operational.

The completed works comprise three inter-terminal bored tunnels. One tunnel is designated for baggage transfer, while the remaining two are designed for automatic people movers (APMs), which will transport passengers between terminals.
In parallel to the completion of these tunnels, construction activity is continuing at the Terminal 2 Connection (T2C). This facility will support several operational functions, including a baggage handling system interchange, an APM depot and an APM station. These elements are intended to enable transfers between existing terminals and the future T5, supporting both passenger movement and baggage logistics.

The T2 Connection works are currently visible from public areas within Terminal 2, including the Gourmet Garden, offering travellers a view of the ongoing construction activity.
Terminal 5 is a long-term expansion project for Changi Airport and is expected to increase overall airport capacity while supporting future growth in air travel. The completion of the underground tunnel infrastructure marks an early step in preparing the airport’s systems and connections ahead of the terminal’s eventual opening.
