Nashville International Airport (BNA) has officially opened its extended Concourse D to passengers, marking the first completed project under the airport’s New Horizon development programme.
The 22,000-square-metre expansion introduces five new departure gates, a moving walkway, eight retail and dining options, and three permanent public artworks. The extension also features BNA’s first outdoor terrace, accessible to all passengers, offering views across the airfield and towards downtown Nashville.

Construction was led by Hensel Phelps and Fentress Architects, involving more than 700,000 work hours and a workforce that was nearly 80% locally based.
The new concourse includes dining and retail offers such as New Heights Cantina & Taqueria, Flytes Virtual Dining Hall, and Daniel X Diamond, alongside artwork installations by local and international artists. These include a woven mural along the moving walkway and a terrazzo piece featuring Nashville’s skyline.

Concourse D is the first major milestone in BNA’s New Horizon programme, a 3 billion USD phased growth plan aimed at increasing capacity and improving facilities to support up to 40 million passengers annually in future years.
Completing Concourse D on time and under budget now enables the airport to move forward with other planned works, including the redevelopment of Concourse A and improved terminal access roads.
