The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has awarded a contract for the design of its Airline Operations Control Centre (AOCC) at the new CPK Airport in Poland.
The selected contractor, a consortium of PIG Architekci and GMT, will complete the comprehensive construction design over the next year. This includes the submission of a building permit application.
The AOCC will serve as a central hub for managing and coordinating airline operations at the airport. It will oversee various critical activities, such as flight planning, apron traffic, crew management, ground handling, and monitoring weather conditions.
Dr. Filip Czernicki, CEO of CPK said:This contract is another important step in the design process of the new airport. The staff at the operations centre will be responsible for making decisions regarding day-to-day airport operations under any potential conditions. We are designing and building the AOCC to ensure that operations proceed as planned.
The contract, valued at approximately 4.7 million PLN (1 million EUR), includes the development of multidisciplinary designs. This encompasses conceptual, construction, technical, and detailed designs, as well as other necessary documents required to secure project approvals.
This project is the third to be commissioned under CPK’s framework agreement for the design of airport support facilities.
The air traffic control tower, currently in advanced design stages, is being developed under a 15.5 million PLN contract with JSK Architekci. Simultaneously, the design of the emergency and firefighting services buildings is underway, managed by a consortium of AKE Studio, APA, and Tequm, with a contract value of 6.6 million PLN.
CPK plans to award a fourth design contract later this year under the same framework agreement. This upcoming contract will involve design work and technical consultancy for maintenance bases, which will support airport snow removal services, vehicle maintenance, and a service centre for technical maintenance.
Ultimately, CPK will establish a modern transportation system that integrates air, rail, and road transport. The new central airport will be located between Warsaw and Łódź and is expected to serve 34 million passengers annually in its initial phase.
