Denver International Airport (DEN) has been awarded the #1 Green Fleet of 2025 Award by the NAFA Fleet Management Association.
The award marks the first time DEN has been awarded top honours for its green fleet as the airport beat out 59 other agencies nationwide, including government and commercial fleets.

The Airport was awarded the top spot due to its efforts in the reduction of environmental impacts, as well as its promotion of sustainability within its fleet operations.
DEN CEO, Phil Washington, said:Being named the greenest fleet in North America is a significant accomplishment for DEN, especially as one of the largest airports in the world.
This milestone reflects DEN’s ongoing efforts to reduce emissions, invest in clean technologies and lead the aviation industry toward a more sustainable future. We remain focused on setting new standards for sustainability while maintaining operational excellence.
The NAFA Fleet Management Association has presented the Green Fleet Awards, which aims to recognise organisations that execute ‘groundbreaking and inventive programmes for their green initiatives’ for the past 18 years.
DEN was highlighted for its use of alternative fuels and vehicles, use and management of fuelling and recharging facilities and a commitment to workforce development programmes within the local community.
Key achievements that contributed to DEN’s position also include a 49% expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) fleet over 2024 (a total of 770 units), the conducting of side-by-side comparisons of gas, compressed natural gas and EVs (revealing that EVs cost 96% less to operate) and the installation of 14 additional Level 2 charging stations and two solar powered Level 2 chargers, increasing DEN’s charging capacity for its fleet by 52% over 2024.
