DFW Airport Works with Sita and Mastercard to Trial Digital Identity Services
Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport is working with Mastercard and SITA to grant employees airside access using digital identity technology on their mobile devices. A combination of Mastercard’s digital identity services and SITA’s Smart Path passenger processing platform will allow enrolled digital ID holders to be identified for access to airside locations by simply scanning their face at the security checkpoint.
DFW is focusing on digital transformation, and digital identity is a key component. This trial is one of many steps that will pave the way to a seamless and fully digital passenger journey. The re-usable identity will provide the foundation for further services that reduce the number of check-in and screening touchpoints at the Airport and beyond. The goal is an end-to-end digital solution that meets regulatory requirements for identifying travelers, automating transactions and offering fully self-service options that reduce passenger waiting times.
Paul Puopolo, DFW’s Executive Vice President of Innovation, said:This initiative reflects our broader goal of providing verifiable digital credentials to both employees and passengers to streamline and improve the security process while ensuring a convenient and seamless experience. We are committed to reimagining the customer experience at all touchpoints, and we are proud to join our partners to lead the way for the aviation industry.
The digital identity services pilot aims to simplify and improve legacy processes used by stakeholders including airlines, airports and federal agencies.
