Eindhoven Airport has announced that the expansion of its terminal has now reached its highest point with the placement of a wooden roof beam by construction supervisor Ruud Hendriks of Eindhoven Airport and site manager Perry van der Wijst of Heijmans.
The expansion’s roof, which is approximately 14 metres tall, has been constructed using a total of 735 cubic metres of timber.

The terminal expansion is set to be the largest construction project in the airport’s history, and will see the area enlarged by 12,000 square metres. It will incorporate a number of sustainability features, including a water buffer that collects rainwater for flushing the toilets in the new terminal area, as well as approximately 1,000 solar panels installed on the roof.
Roel Hellemons, CEO of Eindhoven Airport, said:Reaching the highest point is an important milestone for Eindhoven Airport, the airport of the Brainport region.
The expansion will soon offer our passengers significantly more space and comfort.
Once completed, the terminal will be expanded by 2,000 square metres before the security screening area, with 10,000 square metres added after security. Additional space will be added to accommodate services and facilities, and a new baggage basement will be constructed in order to allow the handling agent to drive baggage tractors directly from the apron into the baggage area.
The current terminal spans approximately 26,000 square metres, with the expansion having been approved due to growing passenger numbers. It is scheduled to open to the public in July 2027.
