Finavia has announced that the European Entry/Exit border system (EES) will be implemented at Lapland airports in the coming months.

First introduced at Helsinki Airport on 12 October 2025; EES is managed by the Finnish Border Guard, with its full-scale deployment having been preceded by a preparation phase aimed at enabling both system testing and procedural border guard training.

Finavia has advised passengers to pay attention to instructions displayed at airports, which will offer guidance on how travellers may make border checks faster and more efficient.

Additionally, passengers have been encouraged to familiarise themselves with the EES system and its requirements before arriving at the airport.
