Finnair has announced the introduction of its first-ever route to Australia.
The new route will begin offering passengers the chance to fly from Helsinki Airport to Melbourne daily from 25 October 2026.

Flights will operate via Bangkok, and depart Helsinki shortly after midnight before arriving in Melbourne the following morning.
Return flights will leave Melbourne in the afternoon, stop in Bangkok in the evening and arrive in Helsinki early the next morning.
The new route will be operated with an Airbus A350 aircraft, and brings the number of Finnair’s new destinations in 2026 to fourteen, with a total of 93 destinations in Europe, 11 in Asia, seven in North America (including Toronto), two in the Middle East and, from autumn, Australia.
Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President of Route Development at Finavia, said:Finnair’s new route is a fantastic addition to Finland’s and Helsinki Airport’s network.
For European travellers, Australia will soon be easier to reach, while the connection also offers a smooth travel option from Australia to Europe.
