Heathrow Airport has begun a rollout of 41 ChargeBox fast charging stations across Terminals 3, 4 and 5, with each station equipped with 15 fast-charging endpoints.
The introduction of the charging stations follows a successful six-month trial of the technology in Terminal 2, which has converted the pilot scheme to a full time fixture.

Boosting mobile charging capacity by 300% when compared to legacy facilities at the airport; the 41 new FASTPodiums are expected to provide more than 7,000 charges per day, with the highest-performing unit in Terminal 2 recording 2,486 charges in a single week – 355 per day.
ChargeBox has stated that it forecasts over 2.5 million charges annually at Heathrow, with the deployment of the technology closely following findings from the ACI Europe Survey stating that whilst 73% of passengers rely on digital services, confidence is reduced to 48% amongst those aged 55 and older, with device battery anxiety often a strong factor.
Heathrow’s Chief Solutions Officer, Helen Elsby, said:With the rollout of ChargeBox stations across a further three Heathrow terminals, we are pleased to offer even more to passengers with reliable, simple and fast charging services. By working closely with SMEs like ChargeBox, Heathrow drives innovation across the airport to enhance passenger experience and help us meet our service goals.
Ian Hobson, CEO and Founder of ChargeBox, said:I believe airports should be places where technology quietly supports every journey. Charging is a small detail, but without it, the digital travel experience can break
down. Our work with Heathrow shows that when you make something as simple as powering your phone effortless, you can remove a layer of stress for passengers. We’re building charging networks that airports can rely on for decades, and we’re excited to bring the same approach to new partners like Dublin and Frankfurt.
