London Heathrow Airport (LHR) has confirmed that its Terminal Drop-Off Charge will rise from 6 GBP to 7 GBP per visit from 1 January 2026. At the same time, a maximum stay of 10 minutes will be introduced for all vehicles using the designated drop-off areas located directly outside each terminal.
The charge applies each time a vehicle enters one of the terminal drop-off zones. Drivers can pay for a single visit or pre-pay for multiple visits online or by phone.

If payment is made after using a drop-off area, it must be completed by midnight on the following day. Heathrow advises that payment cannot be made at ticket machines or within the drop-off zones themselves.
Vehicles may not be left unattended in these areas. Heathrow states that any unattended vehicles will be removed by police. Re-entering a drop-off zone counts as a new visit and incurs an additional charge.
If a driver does not pay the charge, an 80 GBP Parking Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued. This is reduced to 40 GBP if paid within 14 days.
Alternative Ways to Travel to and from Heathrow
Heathrow remains accessible by several public transport and shared travel options for passengers wishing to avoid drop-off charges.
The Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express provide rail links between the airport and central London, while London Underground’s Piccadilly line offers direct tube connections to all terminals.
Local and long-distance buses operate throughout the day, and dedicated coach services run between Heathrow and major towns and cities.
Licensed taxis, private hire vehicles and pre-booked ride services continue to be available as alternatives to private car drop-offs.
