Icelandair has celebrated its very first scheduled flight from Miami to Iceland with the successful departure of flight 690 from Miami International Airport this Sunday (26 October).
The airline will now begin operating three weekly flights from Miami on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays until May 3 2026, with the new route set to be served by the airline’s new Airbus A321LR aircraft in just under 8 hours.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said:I am extremely proud to welcome Icelandair to MIA for its first-ever service in Miami-Dade County.
Icelandair’s expansion into South Florida with nonstop Miami-Reykjavik flights now gives our residents direct access to the majestic natural beauty of Iceland and continues expanding our airport’s connections throughout the world.
With the commencement of the new service; MIA has now become the only airport in Florida to offer nonstop flights to four sovereign countries in Scandinavia this winter.
Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair President and CEO, said:We are delighted to launch flights from Miami and offer our passengers more options when traveling to Iceland and beyond. Our new Airbus A321LR aircraft enables us to fly to destinations that were previously out of reach, and Miami is a perfect example. This route also creates convenient connections for travelers from Miami to our 38 destinations in Europe via Iceland—and vice versa. We look forward to welcoming Miami aboard!
