Kansai Airports has announced that the domestic section of Terminal 2 at Kansai International Airport (KIX) will reopen on 1 April 2026 following a programme of renovation works.

Terminal 2 (Domestic), which began operations in 2012, is used for domestic services operated by Peach Aviation Limited. Renovation work has been underway since August 2025 in response to sustained growth in passenger traffic.

The refurbishment includes the installation of self-service baggage drop machines and the expansion of the security screening area. Three 20-metre smart lanes have been added to the security checkpoints, with the aim of improving passenger flow and reducing waiting times.

The boarding lounge has also been enlarged. A new food court with four outlets will open within the expanded area. The existing souvenir shop has been refurbished and will reopen with a revised layout designed to create a more open setting.
