Kansai Airports’ project ‘Building airport resilience in the face of disruptive climate events’ has received the Silver Award at the ACI Green Airports Recognition award show.
The award, which was given at the event organised by ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, aims to recognise airports in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions that have achieved outstanding results in sustainability-related environmental projects, with this year’s theme honouring Climate Change Adaptation.

Kansai Airport based its recent work on lessons learned from extensive damage caused by Typhoon Jebi in 2018, and has been working to strengthen airport resilience against extreme weather events and associated disasters that exceed previous assumptions, focusing on three key pillars: prevention, mitigation, and early recovery.
Measures implemented thus far have been well received for their contribution to the development of a reliable transportation infrastructure that is capable of maintaining airport functions in the event of unforeseen disasters.
