Katowice Airport handled the highest number of passengers in its history this past May, with the airport seeing an overall passenger increase of 12.5% over the number previously recorded in May 2024.
The airport’s management company, the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A. – GTL S.A.), has published a review of the airport’s performance throughout the month, which saw a record-breaking 655,818 passengers pass through KTW (72,707 more than 2024).

Throughout the month of May, the Katowice Airport network of flights handled by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa saw 312,529 board flight services from the airport, an increase of 10.2% (28,994 more than 2024), with 342,127 passengers flying on chartered flights operated for travel agencies (an increase of 14.7%).
The airport saw a total of 4,863 aircraft takeoffs and landings, an increase of 6.9% (313 more than 2024).
Artur Tomasik, President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group, the company managing Katowice Airport, said:May was yet another record-breaking month at Katowice Airport. In June, we expect further considerable growth of passenger traffic, both on regular and charter flights.
In the former segment, the growth will be spearheaded by Wizz Air’s expansion of its base in Katowice. At the beginning of June, the carrier launched three new routes at Katowice Airport: Pisa, Chișinău and Madrid, and added a sixth Airbus A320 family aircraft to its base.
Between January and the end of May 2025, KTW handled 2,171,616 passengers, an increase of 16.3% over the same time frame from 2024 (308,884 more), with the airport having handled 1,246,804 passengers on regular flights within the same time frame and 904,154 passengers on chartered flights from Pyrzowice, increases of 7.6% and 28.8% respectively (88,325 & 202,549 more than 2024).
Finally, the same time frame saw a total of 17,461 aircraft takeoffs and landings, an increase of 9% (1,441 more than 2024).
