The Clark County Department of Aviation has contracted Alstom to upgrade the Automated People Mover (APM) system at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas.
This 84 million USD project will introduce ten new Innovia APM R vehicles. It will also involve comprehensive system upgrades to enhance efficiency and sustainability at the airport, which saw a record-breaking 57.6 million passengers in 2023.
Innovia APM R Vehicles
Alstom’s latest Innovia APM R vehicles are designed to meet modern safety and sustainability standards. They have lightweight aluminium vehicle frames that will deliver increased energy efficiency and higher top speeds.
Manufactured in the United States, these vehicles will contribute to minimising environmental impact while providing a smoother travel experience for millions of passengers.

System-Wide Upgrades
In addition to delivering new APM vehicles, Alstom will oversee a full system upgrade for both the Green Line and Blue Line of the airport’s APM system.
The project includes enhancements to the Urbalis Flo signalling system and the replacement of the Central Control ATS system with the advanced Ebi Screen 2000.
The telecommunications system will also be upgraded, and a cybersecurity solution will be integrated to ensure secure operations.
This project builds on Alstom’s long-standing collaboration with Harry Reid International Airport, which began with the integration of the first-generation Innovia APM cars in 1985 for the Green Line, followed by expansions for the Blue Line in 1998 and Terminal 3 in 2012.
The work at Harry Reid International Airport is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, further advancing the airport’s capacity to handle growing passenger numbers while offering a more sustainable and efficient travel experience.
