Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has unveiled a new identity and design concept for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The initiative aims to incorporate elements of the city’s culture, neighbourhoods, and creative industries throughout the airport, aligning with ongoing upgrades under the 30 billion USD Capital Improvement Program.

The updated identity is intended to enhance the experience for both passengers and employees, while presenting a coherent visual and experiential framework across terminals, retail, dining, and public spaces.
At a Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) meeting, LAWA outlined plans for the next three years, including:
- Terminal designs that incorporate themes reflecting Los Angeles’ culture, history, seasons, and sports
- Retail and dining offerings highlighting local businesses and recognised brands to provide a diverse mix of flavours and styles
- Branding and signage that aim to clearly represent the region and unify the airport’s identity
John Ackerman, Chief Executive Officer at Los Angeles World Airports said:What happens in Los Angeles shapes, moves, and transforms the rest of the world. With this new identity, we’re putting the 'L.A.' in LAX. Our goal is to create an airport experience that doesn’t just connect people to destinations, but also reflects the creativity, variety and energy that makes Los Angeles unlike anywhere else in the world.

The programme is scheduled to be implemented ahead of major upcoming events hosted in Los Angeles, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said:As we prepare to host major global events, we must ensure that visitors experience the diversity of every neighbourhood from the moment they arrive in Los Angeles at LAX. I want to thank Commission President Karim Webb and LAWA CEO John Ackerman for leveraging this investment, bringing LA’s rich cultural identity front and center on the world stage.
