Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has announced plans to modernise the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), with construction underway this month.
The project received approval from the Board of Airport Commissioners at their meeting on 18 December.

The terminal upgrade is timed ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with the aim of improving passenger flow and updating facilities at both the departures and arrivals levels.
Conceptual renderings show a design influenced by Los Angeles’ coastal and cultural identity, including elements inspired by the city’s summer climate and cinematic history.

The refresh will also include updates to shopping and dining offerings to reflect local and international tastes, as well as branding aimed at clearly representing Los Angeles as a major transport hub.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said:The modernisation of the Tom Bradley International Terminal invests in the local workforce and emphasises that LA is ready to compete and win when it comes to global tourism. With Los Angeles getting ready to welcome the world, this is just one of the vital investments we are making to create a seamless visitor experience that expands economic opportunity across the LA region. I want to thank the Board of Airport Commissioners, Board President Karim Webb and LAWA CEO John Ackerman for leading this project that builds upon our efforts to make LAX a world class destination.
Clark Construction has been selected to lead the project under the 5 billion USD Multiple Award Task Order Contract for Construction Services approved by the City Council in February. The contract includes requirements for local hiring, small businesses, and disabled veteran enterprises. LAWA has stated that construction schedules will account for international travel demands, particularly during the 2026 World Cup.
The Tom Bradley International Terminal modernisation is part of LAWA’s broader plan to improve LAX facilities and create a more streamlined experience for passengers.
