Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has celebrated the opening of its new terminal extension.

The celebration was attended by the Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, CEO Vincent Hodder, Katie White, MP for Leeds North West and representatives from key organisations such as Leeds City Council, Jet2, Emerald Airlines, Bradford City Council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Farrans Construction, the CBI and West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

The terminal extension forms part of a £100 million expansion project

The newly completed terminal allows for a modernised arrivals process with the use of a new baggage reclaim area and upgraded passport control facility.

Seating across the terminal has increased by 83%, and a range of new food and drink offerings have also been introduced.

Vincent Hodder, CEO, Leeds Bradford Airport, said:

It was an honour to have some of our most valued business partners with us to celebrate this historic milestone for LBA. It has been an incredible journey to get here, and we know our customers are now enjoying a completely new experience from LBA. It’s an exciting time for us too; for our employees, stakeholders and business partners, the opening of this building is a huge achievement for all involved.

Work has now begun on Phase 2 of the project, which will see an extensive refurbishment of the existing terminal to both improve passenger experience and modernise infrastructure.
