Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has opened a new terminal extension as part of its 100 million GBP LBA:REGEN programme.
The extended terminal introduces a new baggage reclaim area and an updated passport control zone, both equipped with newer technology. These upgrades are intended to support more streamlined processing for inbound passengers.
An increase in seating capacity by around 83% also forms part of the development, alongside expanded food and beverage options within the departure area.

The updated terminal also features two premium lounges, including the newly introduced Six Eight One Premium Lounge. This space offers travellers a quieter area to wait for flights, with seating and refreshments provided, including menus using locally sourced ingredients.
Passengers began arriving and departing through the upgraded facility from Tuesday 17 June. This development marks the completion of the first phase of the LBA:REGEN programme, aimed at modernising infrastructure and improving passenger services.
Vincent Hodder, CEO, Leeds Bradford Airport said:We are delighted to see our new terminal extension open and operational today. It has been an incredible journey to get here and we know our customers are going to get a completely new experience from LBA from today. It’s an exciting time for us too; for our employees, stakeholders and business partners, the opening of this building is a huge achievement for all involved.
With Phase 1 now complete, LBA has moved into the next stage of its redevelopment programme. Phase 2 focuses on refurbishing the older parts of the existing terminal. While construction continues, passengers may notice temporary alterations, including new locations for parking, bus stops and entry points.
Once the full LBA:REGEN project concludes, currently expected by the end of 2026, the airport will have expanded its terminal floorspace by 38%, increased retail areas by 76%, and added 50% more security lanes. Other improvements include greater baggage reclaim capacity and more seating throughout the terminal.
The redevelopment programme is part of LBA’s longer-term strategy to support regional air connectivity and modernise the airport environment for passengers, staff, and airline partners.
