The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has contracted Leidos to upgrade its Pro:Vision Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) systems to enhance on-person screening at airport security checkpoints.

Under this contract, Leidos will update TSA’s current AIT systems with a new artificial intelligence-based algorithm.

ATL Security
Leidos has deployed more than 2,400 millimetre wave body scanners at US and international airports and other facilities

This upgrade will help strengthen airport security by providing an improved threat detection methodology that will reduce false alarms.

By improving security efficiency, this will in turn contribute towards an enhanced passenger experience.

Brad Buswell, Senior Vice President and Operations Manager at Leidos, said:

We’re excited to have the opportunity to work with the TSA to further improve the technology and the passenger screening experience at security checkpoints. These new algorithms will help reduce false alarms that lead to unnecessary pat downs and checkpoint inefficiencies.

Throughout the project, Leidos will work with the TSA to upgrade more than 1,000 Pro:Vision AIT systems.

This software update is expected to take several months.
