Construction of Melbourne Airport’s new Naarm Way project, which aims to transform passenger access to Terminals 1, 2 and 3, has reached a pair of milestones.
A new a three lane express ramp from the Tullamarine Freeway into the airport’s new free Pick Up and Drop Off zones has now been connected to the T123 transport hub following the installation of the final Super-T beam – the last of 162 lifted into place during construction.

Additionally, the final module for the Airport’s new pedestrian bridge has been slid into place, with the structure now set to become the main link between both the terminals and the new Pick Up and Drop Off zones in the T123 transport hub.
In order to facilitate construction of the new zones; parking capacity within the T123 car park has been reduced by over 2,000 bays – this has also led to parking price changes coming into effect from Monday 3 November in order to better manage the demand for current spaces.
Melbourne Airport Chief of Ground Transport, Property and Retail Jai McDermott said:By simply booking online passengers can lock in the best rates from as low as $14 a day, which is around a third of the cost you would pay at other capital city airports and even some regional airports.
In recent years we’ve seen a big preference shift to parking over other modes of transport which has contributed to this surge in demand, and online bookings allow us to better manage capacity by giving us visibility over when people plan to arrive and depart.
Naarm Way will be the biggest change to how passengers come to the airport since we opened in 1970 and it’s exciting to see the project taking shape.
Our traffic modelling shows that without our new road network, passengers would be waiting an additional 28 minutes in peak periods by 2029.
The new Pick Up and Drop Off zones will double our capacity, making it easier for people to drop off and pick up friends and family from Melbourne Airport.
Relocating drop off and pick up into the T123 transport hub also allows us to commence a much-needed expansion of our international terminal out into the forecourt.
The new Pick Up and Drop Off zones are planned to open to the public in 2026.
