Miami International Airport (MIA) has opened a free exchange library in its Southern Terminal.
The new Books with an Altitude Library, located between gates H5 and H7, allows passengers to trade in their old books in exchange for new ones before boarding their flight.
After an initial donation of 1,000 books from the Miami-Dade Public Library System in October, travellers have been exchanging and donating books daily, with particular emphasis placed on the donation of children’s books.
“As an avid reader myself, I can’t wait to take advantage of this wonderful initiative that offers travellers the opportunity to read more, save a little and connect with others. This is another example of how our MIA team is ready to go above and beyond to ensure our residents and visitors the best experience when travelling.”
The little library is capable of holding up to 100 books at any given time and is accessible in the post-security area of concourses H and J. The initial concept for the library was introduced by Miami-Dade County Commissioner, Raquel A. Regalado, Vice Chairwoman of the Country’s Airport and Economic Development Committee.
