A new airport terminal serving Greater Montreal is scheduled to open on 15 June 2026, marking the introduction of commercial passenger services at Montréal Metropolitan Airport (MET).
The project is led by YHU Infrastructure Partners in collaboration with Montréal Metropolitan Airport. The development is intended to expand regional air capacity and provide an alternative departure point for travellers in the metropolitan area.
The new facility, located in Longueuil, will initially host operations by Porter Airlines and Pascan Aviation. These carriers are expected to offer routes across Canada, with the option for additional airlines to join at a later stage.

The terminal forms part of a broader approach seen in other large urban regions, where multiple airports operate in parallel to distribute passenger traffic and airline activity. The new terminal is designed to accommodate single-aisle aircraft, which are generally quieter and consume less fuel than larger models.
Charles Roberge, President and CEO of YHU Terminal said:We are not simply building an airport terminal; we're redefining the way people travel in Montreal. This project is the result of close collaboration with MET – Montreal Metropolitan Airport, and every detail has been designed to offer passengers a seamless, efficient and human experience that meets the expectations of today's travellers.
The building covers approximately 21,000 square metres and includes nine boarding bridges and a waiting area with seating for around 900 passengers. Its operational model places services such as check-in, security, and boarding under a single management structure, with the aim of simplifying passenger movement through the airport.
Design features emphasise natural light and reference the historic role of the site, formerly known as Saint-Hubert Airport. Opened in 1927, the airport was once Montreal’s primary aviation hub before commercial services shifted to Dorval in 1940 during the wartime period.

The site lies approximately 15 kilometres from central Montreal and is connected to the city by road and a dedicated shuttle service linking the terminal to the Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke metro station. Road access includes a multi-lane drop-off area intended to manage vehicle flow.
Retail services within the terminal will be operated by businesses based in Quebec, including a branch of Bâton Rouge and Café Dépôt.
Construction began in August 2023. The terminal was designed by Scott & Associates and built by PCL Construction.
The development followed consultations with government representatives, industry groups and local stakeholders. A 2024 survey conducted by Léger reported that 77 percent of respondents supported the project.
YHU Infrastructure Partners, a joint venture involving Porter Aviation Holdings Inc. and Macquarie Asset Management, will oversee the terminal’s operations under a long-term agreement. MET, a non-profit organisation established in 2000, remains responsible for the wider management and development of the airport.
