Munich Airport has called for volunteers to test operations at its brand-new Terminal 1 pier – with trials set to start at the beginning of November.
Over the course of several months, volunteers will test a number of processes and technical systems, including boarding, baggage logistics and passenger guidance.

Realistic processes will be simulated across the terminal expansion on different days, with each participant required to take on a specific role in order to recreate various travel scenarios as realistically as possible.
Examples given by the airport include simulations as a departing passenger to Hong Kong, an arriving guest from London requiring mobility services, or a transferring passenger from Atlanta to Muscat.
Each participant will be given a personalised script which specifies the process and respective role, allowing for any inconsistencies to be identified early in the testing period.
All Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) processes at the airport are being handled by its own subsidiary – Munich Airport International (MAI) – which was established in 2017.
Interested parties from the airport sector can register for the trials online at Munich Airport’s website, here. Participation is unpaid.
