Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) has officially broken ground on its new, 80,000-square-foot North Terminal, marking the beginning of a three-phase-construction project that aims to meet the Airport’s projected growth.
The new Terminal will add three gates, six airline baggage offices, and four additional baggage claim carousels to ECP’s infrastructure, and feature additional concessions, new restrooms and expanded passenger seating across two levels.

Upon completion; the project will also include the relocation and expansion of the TSA checkpoint to provide faster security screening.
Mark Sheldon, Board Chair for Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, said:Our priority at ECP has always been delivering an exceptional travel experience to every passenger.
This expansion is essential to maintaining that commitment as we continue to grow. It will provide the capacity and amenities our passengers deserve while positioning us to welcome new airlines and destinations.
Since its opening 15 years ago, annual passenger traffic has grown by 501% – from 300,000 to almost 2 million. The new Expansion represents ECP’s response as it expects to continue its current growth trajectory, catering to a larger number of passengers whilst maintaining satisfaction standards.
The first phase of the project will see the establishing of both the building infrastructure and envelope, with subsequent phases encompassing the completion of the interior build-out and activation of all passenger-facing amenities and services.
The project itself has been funded through a collaborative partnership between state and federal agencies, regional partners, airline partners and ECP itself.
ECP hopes that the new Expansion will allow the airport to increase flight options, attract airlines and provide improved passenger services.
