The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has launched the next phase of construction as part of its Terminal 1 redevelopment project.

Work will soon begin on the installation of 11 additional gates, new customer lounges, a children’s play area and more dining and retail choices.

With the first 19-gate phase of the new Terminal 1 complete, the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has launched the next phase of construction

Phase 1B is set to be completed in 2028 and will mark a milestone in the overall transformation of San Diego International Airport (SAN) as a whole.

In order to carry out modernisation works; the original Terminal 1 building has been permanently closed and is now being demolished.

Travellers have been advised that the roadway between Terminals 1 and 2 will be closed to all traffic during construction. Those looking to move between the terminals have are recommended to utilise the airport’s Terminal Loop Shuttle, which operates daily from 6:00 to 23:00.
