Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) has invested in its passenger transport operations with the purchase of over 50 new electric buses from MAN.
The new buses are designed to provide continuity, reliability, and increased capacity for travellers moving between aircraft and terminals.
Tillo Smets, Sales Manager Public Transport MAN Nederland said:We are proud that MAN is further expanding its cooperation with Schiphol in the field of passenger transport and that we are making a substantial contribution to the ambitious zero emission goals of our national airport.
The new vehicles feature three doors and a low floor, making it easier and quicker for passengers to board and exit. The layout provides more space for standing passengers, allowing faster loading and unloading, and reducing waiting times.
The electric buses will replace the airport’s current fleet from April 2025. The previous generation of buses has reached the end of its operational life, and this new fleet will ensure that Schiphol maintains high standards of continuity and reliability in its transportation services.

With this new generation of buses, we can take a step forward in terms of passenger comfort and continue to guarantee reliability. Bus transport will remain very important over the coming years due to ever larger aircraft and several large-scale renovations. Building on this collaboration, we are committed to further innovation and more sustainability.
Schiphol is also investing in a renovated rest area for drivers, designed to be energy-positive—generating more electricity than it uses. This aligns with the airport’s long-term sustainability goals and commitment to creating a better work environment for its staff.
Schiphol’s broader aim is to become a fully emission-free airport by 2030. This target includes all activities, from ground operations to runway services, as part of its commitment to a sustainable future.
