Schiphol Airport has announced that from March to June 2026 it will begin renewal works on portions of both taxiways A and B.
The maintenance forms part of a large-scale replacement of dated infrastructure, and has been deemed necessary in order to keep the taxiways in good condition and allow aircraft to continue taxiing both safely and reliably.

Work will take place during two periods before and after the May holiday in an aim to reduce potential impact on both the local community and potential travellers.
The taxiways have been in use constant use for over twenty years, and, due to wear on the asphalt, lighting, cables and drainage, renewal is now necessary. During the maintenance work, infrastructure both on and around the taxiways will also be upgraded, with improvements set to include the replacement of asphalt pavement (approximately 65,000 metres squared), improvement and expansion of rainwater drainage, restoration of the areas surrounding the taxiways, replacement of 32 kilometres of electrical cabling and renewal of taxiway lighting and signage.
All work is being carried out in close collaboration with construction company Heijmans, and will occur in two phases; with work taking place on taxiway B between 9 March and 12 April, and between 4 May and 26 June on taxiway A.
Schiphol has stated that it will utilise the time to carry out as many surrounding maintenance activities as possible, including annual routine maintenance on the Polderbaan and Zwanenburgbaan runways.
During the works, fewer aircraft will be able to taxi to and from the Polderbaan and Zwanenburgbaan runways at the same time. In order to mitigate potential issues, the airport will utilise the Buitenveldertbaan Runway instead of the Zwanenburgbaan Runway, in combination with the Polderbaan Runway, with the Buitenveldertbaan runway only planned to be used when a combination of wind direction and traffic volumes makes that necessary.
