Mayor London Breed said:

There is no better way to celebrate Pride Month at SFO than the completion of the first airport terminal in the world named for an LGBTQ leader who changed our city and our country. Harvey Milk Terminal 1 serves as a welcoming beacon to travellers, showcasing the very best ideals and values of San Francisco and what we represent. My thanks go out to the entire SFO team for this milestone achievement.

The final phase of Harvey Milk Terminal 1 introduces several notable features:

  • North Check-in Lobby: Occupied by Alaska and Delta Airlines, this area features Automated Bag Drop technology, streamlining the check-in process
  • Mezzanine-Level Security Checkpoint: Equipped with Automated Screening Lanes, this checkpoint ensures seamless access from the Terminal 1 AirTrain station
  • New Aircraft Gates: Gates B3 and C1 are now operational, expanding the terminal’s capacity
  • Connecting Walkway: A new pathway links all SFO terminals post-security, enhancing passenger convenience
  • Automated Exit Lanes: These lanes improve security and streamline the passenger exit process
  • Baggage Claim: Five additional baggage carousels, with an optional sixth if needed, increase baggage handling efficiency
  • Common-Use Lounge: The Club at SFO, set to open on 25 June, offers a relaxing space for travellers
  • SFO Museum “Photo Alley” Gallery: This new gallery enriches the cultural experience at the terminal
  • New Concessions: Four new stores and eateries include Green Apple Books, 7×7, Poke to the Max, and Pronto!, with several more set to open later in the year and into 2025
