From April 2025, Swissport International will provide comprehensive ground handling services for Lufthansa Group airlines at London Heathrow Airport (LHR).

Under the new contract, Swissport will handle over 40 daily flights for Lufthansa Group airlines, including Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, and SWISS.

The services will cover:

  • Passenger services: Check-in, boarding assistance, and customer support
  • Ramp handling: Aircraft loading and unloading, pushback, and towing
  • Baggage management: Efficient handling and tracking of luggage
  • Aircraft cleaning: Ensuring clean and comfortable cabin environments
  • Cargo handling: Managing freight through state-of-the-art facilities
  • Lounge hospitality: Offering premium experiences for passengers in Lufthansa Group lounges

Ahead of the contract launch, Swissport is investing heavily in new ground service equipment (GSE). More than 80% of the incoming motorised vehicles will be electric, reaffirming Swissport’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. Additionally, all new equipment will feature enhanced safety systems designed to minimise damage and ensure smooth, efficient operations at Heathrow.
