Gatwick Airport and GRIDSERVE will build the Gatwick Electric Forecourt – an electric charging, net zero equivalent to a petrol station.
Gatwick Airport will introduce a £5 forecourt charge for vehicles which drop off passengers directly outside its North Terminal from March.
The forecourt charge, expected to be around £5, is part of Heathrow's response to the £1.5bn losses incurred in 2020.
Changes to the forecourt will be introduced next month in response to challenges of the pandemic and feedback from users and passengers.
The revenue raised from the charges will help Gatwick to continue its recovery from the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis.
The curb was built to better accommodate transportation network company vehicles and to redistribute traffic volume.
