The first floor of Tampa International Airport’s Main Terminal is set to receive a substantial update.

Bag Claim areas on TPA’s Red and Blue Sides will receive new carpet, lighting, drop ceilings and updated LED signage, the first major updates to the area since new carpeting was installed in 2008.

New LED monitors along the baggage belt tips will be upgraded to larger screens, with one test screen having been installed on Bag Claim 15 on the Red Side in November to test the equipments viability.

Work is set to begin on the overhaul on January 8 2024 and will be split into six phases, beginning with baggage belts 9, 10 and 11 on the Main Terminal’s west side Red Side.

The refresh, which was funded by The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board of Directors, is aimed to be completed by the start of 2025.
