The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced 20.5 million USD in grants to modernise airports across 14 states, as well as Puerto Rico.
Awarded as part of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) programme, the funding may be used for airport planning, development, sustainability, terminal expansions, runway safety enhancements, noise compatibility projects and baggage system upgrades.

With today’s funding, the latest to be announced under President Biden’s leadership, we’re making sure more airports across the country are equipped to handle Americans’ growing demand for air travel.
Airports set to receive funding include Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport in Puerto Rico (4.2 million USD) for the rehabilitation of existing pavements on Runway 9/27, Del Rio International Airport in Texas (3 million USD) to shift current paved Taxiways B, C, D & E to remove direct access and bring airport infrastructure in line with current FAA standards, Meridian Regional Airport/Key Field in Mississippi (1.7 million USD) for the construction of two new hangars for aircraft storage & general sustainability maintenance, Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport in Texas (1.5 million USD) for the reconstruction of 6,000 feet of existing paved Runway 18/36 and Massena International Airport-Richards Field in New York (341,735 USD) for the replacement of its existing terminal roof.

To date, 12 billion USD of President Biden’s 15 billion USD AIG program funding has been made available to airports in need across the country.
