Jacobs has been awarded a contract to lead programme and construction management services for the first phase of a 1.6 billion USD modernisation project at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE).

The programme, CLEvolution, aims to reimagine the airport experience for passengers via the modernisation of existing infrastructure, enhancing accessibility and passenger flow at Ohio’s busiest airport.

The programme’s first phase is set to deliver a redesigned terminal entrance, expanded curbside drop-off, new check-in lobby, consolidated TSA checkpoint, new international arrivals area, new ground transportation centre, upgraded train station and a multi-level parking garage with 6,000 spaces.

Jacobs Executive Vice President Katus Watson said:

CLEvolution is a powerful statement of Cleveland’s ambition to transform and revolutionise the travel experience for residents and visitors. As Engineering News-Record’s top-ranked aviation firm, Jacobs brings deep experience to 25 of the busiest U.S. airports.

With smarter design, expanded amenities and a seamless flow, we’re helping deliver an airport experience that matches the pride and hospitality of the city itself and transforms the passenger journey from curb to gate.

In 2024, CLE surpassed 10 million passengers, positioning the airport as one of the busiest in the country.

Jacobs previously provided services on a number of airport transformation projects across the world, including the 10-year Manchester Airport Transformation project.
