Vanderlande has been contracted by Copenhagen Airport to deliver 20 automated screening lanes featuring central image processing.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the airport’s passenger checkpoint process. The contract builds on a Strategic Partnership established in 2020 to develop the “Checkpoint of the Future.”

Copenhagen Airport aims to create an advanced security checkpoint capable of handling increasing passenger numbers within the same physical space.

Johnnie Müller, Senior Vice President of Security Services & Crisis Response at Copenhagen Airport said:

We are delighted to continue our partnership with Vanderlande in creating a truly state-of-the-art security checkpoint. This project aligns with Copenhagen Airport’s broader strategy to remain at the forefront of world-class security. To achieve this, our aim is to deliver a stress-free security experience by investing in cutting-edge technology and prioritising passenger satisfaction.

Vanderlande’s PAX Checkpoint solution, which includes the PAX Advanced automated screening lane with a tray return system and PAX Multiplex remote screening software, is designed to provide high-capacity performance while allowing for future scalability.

The revamped checkpoint will focus on three key areas: ensuring efficient passenger flow through security, enhancing the passenger experience with a stress-free and secure environment, and maintaining a high level of security with modern technology.

Vanderlande’s PAX Checkpoint also offers several operational benefits. It integrates seamlessly with new and future scanning systems, regardless of the supplier. The system is energy-efficient and features automation capabilities, such as empty tray recognition, tray return, and stacking. Additionally, it enhances working conditions for security personnel by reducing noise levels and offering an ergonomic remote screening facility.

Timothy Mathews, Member of the Board and Executive Vice President of Airports and Parcel at Vanderlande said:

Our Strategic Partnership with Copenhagen Airport continues to grow stronger with this new project. By collaborating closely with the Copenhagen Airport team, we have developed a solution that is not only tailored to their specific needs and goals, but will also, in collaboration, help to improve their security processes.
