The William P. Hobby International Airport in Houston is the first airport in North America to be awarded 5 stars in the Skytrax World Airport Star Rating for 2022.
The Skytrax World Airport Star Rating provides a global benchmark of quality evaluation for airports. The evaluation awards airports between 1 and 5 stars, following a detailed audit analysis of the front-line services and facilities across all areas of the airport.
Houston Mayor, Sylvester Turner, said:This is a well-deserved and unique distinction for the City of Houston and our airport system. Hobby Airport stands among the best in the world and this rating proves that being committed to first-class service is a tremendous benefit for Houston and the entire region.
Hobby Airport excelled in all 29 rating categories, resulting in the rare 5-Star Rating. The achievement makes Hobby Airport one of sixteen airports globally who have been awarded 5-Stars from Skytrax. This success was aided by the airport’s recent upgrades, including a new children’s play area, modern restroom facilities, high-tech signage and information systems, a prayer room, and a new stage for live performances.
Director of Aviation, Mario Diaz, said:The entire Houston Airports team has worked tirelessly toward reaching this accomplishment at Hobby Airport. Providing the highest quality of customer service, exceptional amenities and cutting-edge facilities has earned us five stars at Hobby Airport and an improved 4-Star rating at Bush Airport, and now we owe it to our passengers to continue delivering excellence at every step of the airport experience.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport was awarded 4 stars for the fifth consecutive year and continues to consistently improve its scores across the categories. Construction is currently taking place to redevelop the airport’s terminal, which will support Houston’s goal of being home to two 5-Star rated airports.
