Flughafen Zürich AG has selected ‘Raumfachwerk’ as the winning design for the new Dock A terminal building at Zurich Airport, which will be built using sustainable wood.
The winning project was submitted by a planning team formed of BIG, HOK and 10:8 Architekten, led by architect Bjarke Ingels. The new building will be constructed over the next 10 years and is anticipated to be the largest airport dock built primarily of wood.

After over 35 years of operation, Zurich Airport’s current Dock A terminal has reached the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced. The older building will remain operational during construction and will then be demolished once the new facility is operational.
Construction of the new Dock A is set to start in 2030 and has an estimated cost of 700 million CHF.
